    PRAISES & PRAYER REQUESTS
Pray for Sally Chen's family:  Last Wednesday, Sally's nephew, James, was killed in a car accident between Austin and Houston on his way home for Thanksgiving weekend from UT.  A young woman who was a passenger in the car is presently in a coma.  James' funeral is this Saturday.  The family is still in shock over this tragedy.  Pray for the Lord to take them through this tremendous loss.

Thank you for your prayers for Eric's aunt who gave birth to twins and will be in the hospital for a few months. We had the opportunity to see them when we visited family in Philadelphia over the Thanksgiving weekend. The babies are tiny, but are doing well. Eric's aunt is also doing well and was walking around the hospital soon after her C-section. ~eric & carol

Hi there, I wanted to fill you in a bit on the party.  First off thank you so much for coming to help. This is such a blessing and relief.  Hopefully you will be blessed in just seeing all the families that have made their families through adoption.  This is the family party where we get together with the families and their children some as old as 18 and some families in the "waiting phase" of their process.  I personally have adopted 4 (two 23 year old twins from Nicaragua and 2 little African American girls from here in Houston 9 and 6 years of age).    We have been around for 25 years and all that work at the agency have been touched by adoption in one way or the other, either a birthmother who has placed to adoptee to adoptive parent.  So you can see this party is extremely important to us.  We have needed someone to help us for years in making sure the "food table" (it's potluck) is full of food, restocked as folks bring stuff in or things are emptied etc.   Usually a couple of us have been stuck doing this and don't get time with the clients we've worked with and believe me we want to see them as much as they want to see us.   There is also a beverage table where we make lemonade, iced tea and have pitchers of water.   We have all the "paper/plastic products" for everything.  There is a huge kitchen that we can use at the church, etc.  I'll be there early to meet with you all and make sure everything is ready.  The party is 11-2 but folks start coming usually between 10:30 and 11:00.    If you all can meet me there around 10:30 that would be great.   We set up the night before but you all don't need to be there for that.  We again are so thankful for you and your help.   God has blessed us abundantly by you all ministering to us this way.

    NO BASKETBALL THIS SATURDAY

    PRAYER REQUESTS
Tunisia Missions Team- Pastor Dick, Annie, Sam, Janet, & BJ. Pray for the specific prayer requests in the attachment.

Eric & I have some prayer requests for our family-
    1)
For Aunt Chris who is pregnant with twins and one of the babies is smaller than the other, so the doctors are monitoring and performing tests on a regular basis. She is at 29 weeks, so hopefully the babies can continue to grow and avoid delivering the babies soon which is risky.
    2)
Pray for an unexpected passing of Zhya Jacobs, a friend and member of Chris' small group (Eric's brother).  Pray for Zhya's parents, who are on their way to the states from India, and for the church members. Zhya was an only child and a really large part of their church community. Praise God that he knew the Lord and is in a better place.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS
New Sunday school class called "Foundations of the Christian Faith"
Over the next months, Edwin will be covering the foundational truths and aspects of the Christian life.  If you are wanting to learn what are the building blocks for our faith, then come and join.  Since the class is more discussion based, even if you are not a new believer, there are those in the Sunday school class who are and could benefit greatly from your insight and thoughts.  People have asked a lot of good questions, so it would be great to have different angles and insights to the same questions.  So please, come join us for Sunday School at 9:30am.

Please mark your calenders on Saturday, Dec. 6th from 11-2. AIM Adoptions will have a Christmas party for their adoptive parents and children.  It is a potluck and they'll need a group of people that will take the food that they bring and set it up on the buffet table, keep the food replenished, the area cleaned, dispose of the trash, rinse out the empty containers, etc.  They usually have about 300 persons at this function. Please respond to the evite that was sent out a few weeks ago. If you didn't receive it, please contact Carol so she can send it to you.

  • 10/31/2008 ANNOUNCEMENTS

We will NOT be meeting this Friday. However, if you'd like to volunteer at Harvest Festival this Friday, please come to church by 6:30pm. See below for additional details.

    Prayer Requests:
    1) From Jeremy Lau- One of my coworker's friend's daughter isn't doing too well.  She recently had surgery which went normal, but now she's back in the hospital and they don't know what's wrong.  My coworker asked me if there was anyone I could ask to pray for her friend and her family.  Since I don't have everyones email addresses at work, I thought maybe you could forward this on to the career group and the other English congregation small groups.  Thanks in advance for your help. You can be praying for my coworker too... she's taking this pretty hard and is having trouble focusing on her work.

    2) Pray for the Fong's and the Chow's as they await the arrival of their baby girls!

    3) Pray for the TUNISIA MISSIONS Team- Please consider being part of God's mission in Tunisia through prayer and/or monetary donation.  Please make checks to FBCC and write on the memo "Tunisia 2008."

    Announcements:
    1) HARVEST FESTIVAL THIS FRIDAY!!!

From Carolyn- The rooms need to be ready before 7pm, but there isn't much to set up, so I'd say to be there between 6-6:30pm... 6:30pm at the latest.  I was thinking about putting up some decorations in and around the hallways of Phase I, so if anyone can come early to help, that would be great!  I'll only need two to help out early.  Ask if anyone has any good-sized stuffed animals to put around the fellowship hall.  You know, dogs, cats, rabbits... and if anyone would like to dress up as an animal... wow... that would be AWESOME!!  Also, if anyone is coming straight from work and will arrive by 6pm, just let us know as we will be ordering some sandwiches.  I just need to know by Thursday how many sandwiches to order =)

    2) TEXAS RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL

From Hector- If anyone is interested, I plan to go to the Texas Renaissance Festival this year on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend.  The festival is in Plantersville, TX, about 1 or 1.5 hours from Sugar Land.  Tickets are $18 if purchased in advance.  For more information go to www.texrenfest.com.  If interested, please let me know by Friday November 7.  Families are also welcome.  If we can get 25 or more people, the price is knocked down to $15 per person.  Depending on the number of responses, I will possibly organize carpools to cut down on expenses.  Hope to see many of you there, it is a wonderful time not to mention the AWESOME food choices.
